Serenity training

Our philosophy: The versatile training of young horses in order to raise happy and relaxed sport and leisure partners. This also includes a lot of work on the ground, including fright training and play lessons for the young four-legged friends. Bernadette Brune has developed her own system!

An umbrella, a flapping tarpaulin or colorful advertising banners have already made one or two competitions more difficult. And even when riding out in the woods at home, there are always things that throw our horses off their stride. In this video, Bernadette shows how she organizes fright training and works on more composure. A nice side effect: the bond between human and horse is strengthened with every task they master together.

The ABC

Our horses should learn to understand us a little better and accept us as leaders. This not only helps us in our handling, but also promotes calmness in our four-legged friends. After Bernadette has explained the small groundwork ABC with an experienced horse, in the following video she shows how she teaches the basics to a less experienced pair. This requires a lot of concentration from her pupil: using your own body language correctly is not that easy!

THE PLAYING PITCH

Whether a 3-year-old stallion or a Grand Prix horse, they all have to go through this course – our playground!

The aim is to show the horse as much as possible in order to get it used to external influences and thus make the start of the competition, away training or even just the first round past the sweat blanket on the rail as relaxed as possible for the horse. More relaxed horses are the result!

You can see how to master the course with a 3-year-old stallion and a 4-year-old mare in this video:

ANTI-FRIGHT TRAINING

Calm horses not only make it easier for us riders, they can also deal with new tasks in a much more relaxed way. The 3-year-old mare in this video is amazed when Bernadette confronts her with a plastic bag, ball and the like. Here we explain why we start this work so early and how it makes breaking in easier.

EXCELLENT BREEDING

… for the perfect start to your young horse’s career!

The young horses grow up in small groups in spacious stables during the winter months. The stables are half-covered so that they can always decide for themselves whether they want to be inside or outside. They regularly go to the adjacent large sandy area (25 x 60 m) to romp, roll around and play or (depending on the weather) to the pasture paddocks. This means they are in daily contact with our staff and learn to lead by halter. This type of husbandry promotes social contact and makes them robust.

Good hay is available to them at all times and they receive rearing feed three times a day. The stalls are littered daily and mucked out regularly. Care is taken to ensure that the horses are vaccinated and wormed at the required intervals. Our vet is quickly available to deal with any problems. Attention is paid to regular hoof care. Every year in November, our young horses are x-rayed, at which time it is also possible to have your protégé x-rayed.

During the summer months, the young horses are kept on the spacious, lush pastures around the stud farm. They are checked daily and fed hay if necessary.
Age limit for the rearing stable: weanlings to max. 3-year-old young horses

Care of broodmares and foals

Would you like to breed, but don’t have enough time to look after your broodmare? We allocate some places in our fantastic broodmare stable to mares from other stallions and look after them as if they were our own. You tell us which stallion your mare should be inseminated by and we will take care of the rest for you!

AQUATRAINING

Does your horse need rehabilitation after an injury? Or would you like to effectively promote your horse’s muscle development?

The Aquatrainer combines exercise and hydrotherapy, two forms of therapy. Controlled movement is the best therapy for lameness, while the cold water cools and massages the limbs. The complementary forms of therapy in the Aquatrainer lead to considerable training successes in sport horses when the water is at a special height.

The horses go to the aquatrainer 2-3 times a week, depending on the vet’s instructions. A training session lasts 10 to 25 minutes, depending on the intensity.
